Don’t Miss Your Chance to Grow Professionally in 2020!

If there ever was a time to take advantage of your company’s professional development dollars, this is the year. Most employees have been challenged to regroup and approach their work from a different angle - whether it’s by working from home, shifting schedules to accommodate kid’s school schedules, or just learning to work while processing the global pandemic.

It’s crucial that you take some time to focus on you - it will help you excel professionally and boost your overall health! If you’re not sure exactly how to use professional development dollars by the end of the year, here’s three potential ways to help you grow:

  1. Learn a new language (or deepen your understanding of one you already know). Being able to communicate in more than one language is a huge perk in today’s global economy. If you haven’t considered taking lessons in a second language, set yourself up for success in 2021 by signing up for lessons or a private tutor.

  2. Add to your reading list. Bill Gates reads roughly 50 books a year (that’s about one a week). It’s easier to read if you have many books at your fingertips. Consider picking up some titles about a topic you’re interested in, or, success in general. A couple of my favorites this year have been Say What You Mean by Oren Jay Sofer, and Why Jazz Happened by Marc Meyers.

  3. Work with a Coach. There are all kinds of professional coaches - people to help you move up the corporate ladder, think through new business strategies, or train you in a new professional skill. One skill pretty much everyone can improve is communication. If you’re thinking about how a coach can help you clearly showcase your value at work, schedule a free intro call with me and we’ll discuss how I might help you grow your business in 2021.

2020 has been a whirlwind of a year - but don’t let the current state of affairs keep you from reaching your goals. If your workplace offers professional development dollars, make sure you don’t let yours expire. It’s not too late to plan for an even better year next year!
